I Cried to Jesus
I
will meet you in heaven, my beloved
Though asunder for now we are
I will not wallow in selfish pity
Nor dwell in sorrow’s lonely hour
A sweet assurance I have in Jesus
That no sorrow I bear alone
He has promised me grace and mercy
I boldly obtain at His throne.
An empty hole was left when you went home,
And the nights were so long and drear,
And the many tasks of life so daunting—
Their weight was more than I could bear.
And I cried to Jesus, the soul's Refuge,
With my soul’s trouble and despair
And a sweet song in the night He gave me
And bid me on Him cast my care.
