My Kinsman Redeemer
Thoughts
after reading Zechariah 3.
When
Satan lifts his accusing finger
I
thank God tor my Kinsman Redeemer
He
hath exchanged my filthy rags for white
Behold,
the Judge of the earth will do right.
And
what Satan sees and loudly points out—
To
try to cast in my heart fear and doubt,
Was
once most sadly accurate and true
But
old things are gone: God makes all things new!
A
new Master to love and serve have I,
The
Lord Jesus; Ruler of heaven and sky.
At
the moment of my salvation
Oh
what heavenly joy and elation!
Of
all the Gospel news this is the best,
That
as far as the east is from the west
He
hath removed my transgressions from me
And
From the powers of darkness I’m free!
Nevertheless,
while on earth I persist
I
must be sure the devil to resist.
Lest
I yield sacred ground to his vile plot
And
start down a path God would have me not.
As
a shadow at noon, he flees away
When
I bring the Two-edged sword to the fray!
The
shield of faith quenches each fiery dart
That
seeks to plant seeds of doubt in my heart.
What
God hath said will also come to be
I
will live with Him for eternity.
