Reward of the Faithful

 Reward of the Faithful

How vast and amazing
Our God’s rich service reward
A cup of water in His name
Is not forgotten with our Lord!
If we, in earthly love
Good gifts on others bestow
How much more our heav’nly Father
Delights to bless our prayers below.
He’ll reward the faithful
In eternity to come;
His presence alone would suffice
In that bright and heavenly home.
The wicked’s awful pow’r
Spreads wide like the Green Bay tree,
But like a rushing, white-capped wave
He shall vanish as suddenly.
The wicked tread the just
But the Lord doth hear their cry,
One day He’ll return to earth
Reading the heavens and the sky
With God’s law in his heart
Sure-footed the Just shall stand
Though he fall he shall rise again
The Lord upholds him with His hand.
So don’t fret though this world—
Is cruel and unfair;
The just Judge will right every wrong
And safely keep those in His care.
