Oh, How Great and Rich in Mercy!
The beauty of God’s creation
Is in every minute detail,
From the vast, starry horizon
To the small, complex human cell.
From the meadows to the forest
From the lofty heights to the dales,
Creation sings in one chorus--
Of the Creator God it tells.
Man in vain searches for answers
Of origin and destiny;
But he looks in the wrong places
With blinded eyes that will not see,
He twists all the truth around him
To fit his own feeble theory
And when it is found yet wanting
He still rejects God’s Deity.
Written in every mortal tongue
God tells man through creation’s voice,
“I am Lord of the universe
But I leave you with a free choice
You may serve me with soul and heart
And spend eternity with Me,
Or you can reject My Son’s blood
And choose a life of misery.”
Foolish man in his own conceit
Thinks he can devise his own way,
Not believing God or His Word
That there’s a coming judgment day,
And though the earth will be shaken
And the stars in the heavens fall
Still man turns his back on the Lord
And refuses to on Him call.
Oh, how great and rich in mercy
God is to the children of men!
He tarries with His fierce anger
That all might repent of their sin,
He convicts man with His Spirit
And beckons to Him with His love
He cares for them as a Shepherd
That they might join His flock above.
